Indian · Bristol
A mile from the centre, along a pleasant riverside walk and handy for Ashton Gate, this is a small, unfussy Indian restaurant where the welcome does most of the work. The owners are genuinely warm — chatting, recommending dishes, sometimes sending out a free pudding — which makes a real difference when you've arrived with hungry, restless children. Portions are generous and less greasy than most, prices are gentle, and there's free parking plus buggy access, high chairs, a kids' menu and vegan choices. The onion bhajis, the fresh chilli dip with the poppadoms and the light, fluffy naan all get singled out, as do the paratha and chapati. Two honest notes: it's small, so book at busy times, and the spicing runs milder than the menu suggests — a "medium" can arrive creamy rather than hot.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
