A big, handsome pub right in the middle of Cheltenham, with enough floor space that a pram isn't a problem and buggy access is sorted. It's roomy rather than cramped, so a family table doesn't feel like an imposition, and there's outdoor seating when everyone needs air. Service is quick — one family popped in mid-shop with a daughter in tow and were fed and out without fuss — and the bar team are consistently warm with people. Kids' menu and high chairs are there. The Sunday roast is the thing to come for: proper Yorkshires, cauliflower cheese, and a nut roast that genuinely converts people. Small plates (cod goujons, karaage chicken, squid) work well for sharing. Portions are generous and prices sit below what you'd expect for the location. Weekends and theatre nights get busier.
