A big Greene King pub on the edge of Nottingham that turns out to be far roomier than it looks from the car park — plenty of space to park a pram beside a table without blocking anyone, free parking outside, and high chairs and a kids' menu as standard. Go early for lunch and it's genuinely quiet; weekends and quiz nights fill it up and get loud. Food comes out fast and hot on warm plates, and a table of twelve still got their meals together, which matters when small people are hungry. The steak and the hot honey chicken burger get the most love, the Sunday roasts are generous, and there's a proper gluten-free menu. Prices sit a little above standard pub grub, but one parent reckoned the steak beat a chain steakhouse. The beer garden is lovely in summer.
