The Balti House
Step-free Indian restaurant in Nottingham with high chairs, a kids' menu, and vegan and gluten-free choices; booking advised.

Sicilian · Nottingham
A small Italian place in the centre of Nottingham that manages the trick of feeling intimate without being unbearable with children — the noise level stays comfortable, so nobody has to shout, and the staff are unfailingly warm and quick to check in. It's genuinely tight inside, which is part of the charm but worth knowing if you're arriving with a pram; there's outdoor seating, buggy access and high chairs, plus a kids' menu and vegan choices. The porchetta gets rapturous mentions, as does the beef ragu, the lasagne and the croquettes to start. Not the cheapest, and portions are worth the money rather than bargain-priced. Book if you're going near a weekend — walk-ins get lucky midweek but not always. Italian music in the background does a lot of the atmospheric work.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
