Tucked at the base of the hills on a farm site outside Stirling, this is the sort of stop where the view alone buys you ten minutes of calm — sheep in the field and the Wallace Monument in the distance. There's free parking, buggy access and high chairs, plus picnic tables and a patio if the weather holds. The daily soup specials get a lot of love, as do the waffles, french toast, fish and chips, and a wall of cakes and home-made scones; vegan and vegetarian choices are properly thought through, not an afterthought. Portions are good value, and the attached farm shop and gift store buy you extra browsing time. Worth knowing: service can be patchy when it's busy — one family waited fifteen minutes before anyone came over — so go when you're not against the clock.
