The Tiger Inn
A traditional Belper country pub with familiar pub food, countryside views and outdoor seating — an easy, wallet-friendly spot for families.

Restaurant · Ashbourne
A proper country pub setting just outside Ashbourne, with well-kept grounds, ample free parking and a garden that's genuinely lovely in summer — plants and flowers everywhere, and little safari hunts dotted about that children can go looking for while the grown-ups finish a drink. Inside there are high chairs, buggy access and a kids' menu, and the private heated booths with soft benches are worth asking about if you're a group of four or more. Big tables get fed fast and hot, which matters when someone's hungry. The roast chicken, the steak and ale pie and the homemade chicken and mushroom pie all get particular praise, with generous portions. Sunday lunch has had the odd off day, so it's worth booking and going in with realistic expectations. Prices sit at the upper end of reasonable.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
