Fine Dining · Plymouth
Set in a 17th-century manor house just outside Plymouth, this is a proper occasion dinner rather than a quick family bite — but the free parking, buggy access, high chairs and a children's menu mean you can bring older kids along without a fight. The kitchen sends out extras all night: bread that people rate above everything else, a cheese trolley children genuinely enjoy, and a little game before pudding that keeps small hands busy. The goat's curd, the chicken and a peach dessert come up again and again. Service is warm and unhurried — one family said the team made a refined evening feel "like being served food by friends." Two honest snags: the pace slows right down towards the end, which tires everyone out, and the wine pairing is steep at around £150 a head. Book ahead.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
