Somewhere between a treat and a proper family dinner out, this one — smart, spotless, and a lot roomier than most Italian places round here, with a tree centrepiece the children will spot straight away. Buggy access and free parking take the stress out of arriving, and there are high chairs and a kids' menu when you get inside. Come at six and it's still calm; by seven it fills up, and weekends are busier again, so book. The steak gets the loudest praise — the fillet especially — along with the risotto, the mussels and meatballs to start, and desserts one family thought were almost too generous. The staff are warm and quick without rushing you, and there's outdoor seating for a sunny evening. Not the cheapest, as regulars freely admit, but "well worth the money".
