Just off the A303 near Salisbury, this working farm makes an easy road-trip stop — and the farmyard does most of the entertaining. Chickens and ducks wander about with their babies, there are lambs in the barn, and ponies sometimes appear, which buys you a good ten minutes of distraction. Seating is split between the small café-shop and a large covered barn outside, so there's room to park a pram and let children be children. Staff have been known to bring out colouring sheets unprompted. Food is home-made and generous: poached eggs on bloomer toast, local pork pies, cakes, proper pot tea, good coffee. Free parking sits right in front. Two honest notes — it's pricier than other farm shops, and it's a working farm, so tractors come and go.
