A hotel dining room with proper decadence to it — deep booths you could happily park a buggy beside and sink into for an hour. The kitchen is the real draw: scallops, lamb shank cooked beautifully, seafood pasta and a trout protein bowl all come in for praise, and the afternoon tea skips the usual sandwiches for savoury bits and desserts so generous families end up asking for a doggy bag. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and step-free access, and on a good day the staff are warm and genuinely attentive. On a bad one, though, service drags — one family waited fifteen minutes just to be seated at Sunday lunch, and dessert took half an hour. Worth booking, and worth going when it's quieter rather than at peak Sunday rush.
