About Chequers Inn Loose
A stream runs right alongside this old Maidstone pub, so on a warm day you can sit out at the front with the children while they watch the water, and there are good, short walks straight from the door if someone needs to burn off energy before pudding. Inside it's roomy enough for a pram, with high chairs, a kids' menu and free parking, and the staff are friendly and quick — food arrives fast, which matters when a toddler has hit their limit. The ice cream machine and milkshakes do a lot of heavy lifting with small children. Grown-ups rate the sticky toffee pudding, the fajitas that come out sizzling on three plates, and the vegetarian lasagne. The menu itself isn't especially adventurous, and the newer Friday-to-Sunday breakfast service can be hit and miss.
