Indian · Basingstoke
A South Indian kitchen in the middle of Basingstoke that's easier with children than most curry houses — buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, and a car park a few minutes' walk away. It's cosy and bright rather than roomy, so a pram needs a bit of manoeuvring, and booking matters: even with a reservation there can be a short wait at peak times. What makes it work with kids is that the team asks about spice levels and adjusts dishes, so nobody's stuck with something too hot. The dosas come out the size of a roll of wallpaper, which usually settles an impatient table, and the chole with fried bread, crisp calamari and tofu butter masala get named again and again. The vegan menu is unusually long. Service is quick and warm — one parent calls it "impeccable".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
