Tap & Tumbler
A laid-back, low-cost Nottingham rock bar with a house ale, live music and a relaxed, unfussy feel — call ahead if you're bringing children.

Thai · Nottingham
Come here on a weeknight and the room is calm enough that you'll actually hear each other — one visitor arriving right at opening found it "relaxing", and the traditional-feeling space is a gentler setting than the usual Thai spots in town. The staff are the real draw for families: they'll happily chop the chunky chicken in the Pad Kra Prao into mince so a small person can manage it, and they'll cook from scratch with fresh oil if you ask. Prawn crackers land early, which buys you time. High chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options are all sorted. Portions are generous — the egg fried rice gets particular praise — and the two-course lunch at around £11 is good value. One warning worth heeding: the spice is properly authentic, not toned down for British palates, so order mild for the children.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
