Cafés · Chathill
Just off the A1 at North Charlton, this is the sort of stop that makes a long drive with children in the back genuinely bearable. The room is large, bright and airy, with tables spaced far enough apart that a pram isn't in anyone's way, and there's a big play area at one end — plus plenty of seating well away from it if you'd rather eat in peace. Staffing levels are good, so food arrives fast, and free parking sits right outside. The bakes and cakes get the loudest praise, along with the quiches, salads and a mini breakfast, and there's proper choice for vegetarians and vegans. Outdoor tables too, dogs welcome. One snag: it's echoey inside and can feel a little cold in atmosphere.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
