About Cafe Wander

Head down the stairs off the street and there's more room than you'd expect — plenty of seating, so a pram isn't a problem, and it's the ordinary buzz of a busy café rather than anywhere too loud for a toddler. Breakfast runs all day at weekends, which is a small mercy on a slow morning. Food arrives quickly and the staff are warm and unhurried, the sort who remember faces after a couple of visits. The full Scottish is the thing people rave about — haggis and black pudding side by side — though the porridge gets just as much praise, and the brioche French toast with Nutella and honeycomb will win over any child. Prices are gentle, there's a kids' menu, high chairs and vegan options, and the toilets are clean. Everything's halal. The stairs can be slippery in the rain.
