A proper stop on the A9, and one that works when you've got children in the back and everyone's past their limit. It's roomy, there's plenty of parking outside, and the ordering happens at the counter, so you're not waiting on a table to be noticed — handy when someone needs feeding immediately. High chairs, buggy access, a kids' menu and outdoor seating are all sorted, and the staff have a reputation for being genuinely unbothered by fuss. Portions are enormous, the gluten-free cooking is properly understood rather than an afterthought, and the cake and pie counter is a real event. People rave about the full highland breakfast, the coffee, the beer-battered haddock and the sweet chilli chicken loaded fries. Fair warning: it gets very busy, and a few have found some dishes bland — stick to what it's known for.
