Maazi Matlock
Lively Matlock Indian with a kids' menu, high chairs, vegan and gluten-free dishes and free parking — booking advised.

Café · Matlock
Set right in Hall Leys Park, this is the kind of independent café that makes a day out easier — plenty of indoor tables plus outdoor and porch seating, so there's room to park a buggy and let children be children without anyone tutting. High chairs, a kids' menu and free parking are all sorted. Food comes out quickly and the range is generous for such a small kitchen: lasagne, jacket potatoes, ploughman's lunches, homemade cakes and ice creams, and an afternoon tea so big two people happily shared one. Staff are genuinely helpful about allergies, going to real lengths over gluten-free orders. Two honest snags — there's only one toilet, so queues build at busy times, and popular items sometimes sell out, so ask before you set your heart on the scone.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
