Cafés · Cheddar
Sitting right by the water at the bottom of Cheddar Gorge, this is a proper lunch stop rather than a grab-and-go — plenty of seating indoors and out, so a pram isn't a problem, and there are high chairs and a kids' menu if you're feeding small people. The Gorge Club toastie is what everyone orders, built around cave-aged cheese from the shops next door, and the breakfast bakes (sausage rolls, cheese and raisin scones) are worth a detour on their own. Milkshakes are excellent — the clotted cream vanilla especially — and there's coffee and walnut cake at a fair price. Two honest snags: it's not cheap, with sandwiches running into the teens, and food can take 20–25 minutes at busy times, so order something to keep children going while you wait.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
