A quirky roadside stop just outside Inverness that's easy to fold into a Loch Ness or Urquhart Castle day, with a large free car park (bigger than it looks from the road) and buggy access once you're in. The catch is size: there aren't many indoor tables, so at busy times you may wait or take the outdoor seating — worth timing around a nap. Portions are generous enough to split between two, which suits smaller appetites, and there's a proper kids' menu plus high chairs. The homemade bread, triple-layer sandwich, full breakfast and vegan haggis all get real praise, as do the carrot cake and chocolate cupcakes. Dogs are made a genuine fuss of, with a wall of dog photos children love spotting. Staff are warm and unhurried; one visitor found the food fine rather than remarkable.
