Most people come here as part of a National Trust day out, and the café sits right by the entrance, about a ten-minute walk from the car park along an easy path — long, but fine with a buggy. Inside it's a good size, with plenty of indoor tables and outdoor seating, so there's room to park a pram without blocking anyone. Staff are polite and there are allergy-aware options, plus a kids' menu, high chairs and vegan choices. The scones and cakes with coffee are what people come back for. Two honest snags: service can be slow when it's busy, and prices sting — one visitor grumbled about £8 for a jacket potato. Afterwards, the gardens are lovely for letting children run about under the tree canopy.
