A no-frills spot that leans hard on doing the basics properly — the cooked breakfasts are the reason to come, and they're enormous. The special set breakfast (egg, sausage, two bacon, beans, black pudding, bubble and squeak and toast) has been going out at £5.50, and more than one visitor has admitted defeat halfway through a full English. Everything is cooked fresh to order rather than rushed, so allow a few extra minutes, though service is generally quick and the place is kept properly clean. Buggy access, high chairs, a kids' menu and free parking all make the logistics easy, and the owners and staff have a reputation for being warm with everyone who walks in. It's not a smart café in a smart part of Gloucester, and one visitor found the sausages a bit cheap — but the prices are genuinely low and the portions huge.
