Tucked on Kingussie's main street, this is a small family-run place that works well as a refuelling stop with children in tow — buggy access, high chairs, a kids' menu and free parking mean you're not fighting the logistics before you sit down. The menu is deliberately short, which means things arrive fresh and reasonably quickly; the steak sandwich, the soup, the salmon and the haggis frikkadels all come in for particular praise, and portions are generous for the price. Side dishes come on a shared plate for the table, which is handy with grazing kids. The owners are genuinely warm — one family found them happy to chat through where to spot the local highland cows. Two honest notes: there's no alcohol licence (bring your own, or nip to the Co-op), and evenings are worth booking.
