A no-nonsense Cardiff café where the portions are enormous and the prices are gentle — think £2.50 cappuccinos and a breakfast plate around a tenner that arrives fast, which matters when someone at the table has gone past hungry into meltdown. It's order-at-the-counter rather than table service, so factor that in with a pram, though there's open-plan seating with room to spread out, high chairs and a kids' menu. The steak with eggs and fries, eggs Benedict, chocolate chip pancakes and avocado sourdough all get singled out, and there are proper vegetarian options. Staff are patient and genuinely kind — one family arrived gluten-free and the team went out and bought gluten-free bread for them. It's popular with locals and can fill up. Parking is on the street nearby and much of it is permit-only, so give yourself a minute.
