Nice To See You
Busy central York café with a children's play corner, fast service, allergy-savvy staff, and standout Polish dishes alongside brilliant coffee.

Italian · York
Tucked a short walk from the Minster, this is a proper independent kitchen rather than a chain, and it handles the fussy realities of eating out with children without fuss. Staff swap spaghetti for penne, leave the mushrooms out, and generally take requests in their stride — around 80% of the menu can be done gluten-free, including the lasagne and pizza. The homemade meatballs get the most love, along with the pizza dough, sea bass, minestrone packed with vegetables, and cannoli to finish. There's a two- or three-course lunch menu, high chairs, buggy access and a kids' menu, plus outdoor tables for warmer days. One parent found "nothing is a hassle" here. Worth booking at busy times, and note the optional 10% service charge; the occasional dish lands wide of the description.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
