Barnacle
A laid-back, well-rated Liverpool bar with mid-range food — easygoing for a casual bite, though worth checking ahead if you're bringing kids.

Restaurant · Liverpool
Tucked off the main street and worth the hunt, this Liverpool spot splits into a small front room, a quick bar-eating area, and a bigger dining room past the kitchen — so there's usually somewhere that suits a pram and a fidgety toddler. The cacio e pepe butter beans with truffle and focaccia are the thing everyone orders; get them as a starter to share, because they're enormous. Fresh pasta made from scratch, the fennel sausage rigatoni, and good pizza round it out, and gluten-free and vegan options run right through the menu. Staff are friendly and quick, and one family with a nut allergy was handed an iPad listing exactly what was safe. The outdoor tables with fairy lights are lovely in summer. It gets properly packed even midweek, so book.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
