A big, plant-filled room near the seafront that's smarter than you'd expect but still copes well with children — buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted, and the staff have a reputation for staying calm and warm even when a table nearby gets very loud. The cooking is genuinely good: crisp calamari, properly fresh rock oysters, seafood ravioli, and burgers that people rave about (the wagyu and, surprisingly for a seafood place, the chicken burger). Pudding is worth saving room for — the matcha and pistachio tiramisu arrives with a little chocolate lobster on top, which small children find delightful. Weekday afternoons between 3pm and 6pm bring £1 oysters, and it's noticeably quieter then. Do book at weekends and around Valentine's; walk-ins have ended up perched at the bar.
