Food is local and generous: jacket potatoes, sausage and egg sandwiches, cream teas, and cakes people describe as huge. Prices stay reasonable, and free parking sits close by, with level paths through the grounds afterwards for a pram or restless legs. Two honest notes: hot food can be slow at busy times, and the interior gets genuinely cold in winter. It's run by volunteers raising funds for the house, and the welcome shows it.
