The Blue Piano
Relaxed Edgbaston restaurant with genuinely good food, attentive staff, kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating — roomy enough for prams and big groups.

A big, modern room that's been broken up into little segments, which does two useful things at once — it feels cosy, and it keeps the noise from other tables at bay, so a chatty toddler won't feel like the loudest thing in the building. There's plenty of seating, outdoor tables when the weather holds, buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu. The breakfasts are the draw: the Full Monty is a properly hearty plate, the smoked salmon hash and Turkish eggs get singled out, and the hash browns come out crisp. Freshly baked scones with cream and jam for afters. Staff are consistently warm and quick, and good with gluten-free and dairy-free requests. Coffee is the weak spot — one parent found theirs "a bit weak" — and the chairs aren't the comfiest for a long sit.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
