Tucked slightly off the main road in Kemptown, this is less a restaurant than someone's front room turned over to feeding people — around 25 to 30 seats, so it's cosy rather than roomy, and worth phoning ahead if you're bringing a pram or a hungry toddler. The owners cook, serve and then perform between courses: songs, stories, a mechanical hat. Food is homely and surprising — meatballs with cherries, monkfish stew, soup, curry, waffles and ice cream — with a full vegan banquet alongside the meat one, plus a kids' menu and high chairs. Flag dietary needs when you book and they'll sort it. It's a fixed menu, so fussier eaters may struggle, and an evening with drinks runs around £45 a head. One family calls it "full of surprises", and children who like being talked to will love it.
