Norwich has plenty of places that manage food or atmosphere, and this little spot manages both at once — small plates meant for sharing that turn out to be anything but small, with the chefs visible working away at the pass. The whole menu is gluten free, which makes it a rare relief if anyone in the family is coeliac; the crispy chilli beef and the mackerel come up again and again. Buggy access, high chairs, a kids' menu and free parking take the friction out of getting there, and there's outdoor seating when you need the wriggling to happen elsewhere. The staff are warm and genuinely unbothered by a full table — one family of five turned up on a busy Monday and had a great time. Fair warning: it's small, the music runs loud, and booking ahead is wise.
