Cafés · Newport, Pembrokeshire
Tucked into Newport with a light, roomy back seating area that families can spread out in rather than being squished around a small table, this is a genuinely easy stop with children. Breakfast is the thing people rave about — sublime scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, a proper Welsh breakfast, good local ingredients, and a simple menu that suits a group of six as readily as two. Coffee is excellent, the soup at lunch is worth a detour, and there's a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating at the back that's dog friendly too. The building is full of character and feels cosy and homely; staff are warm and nothing is too much trouble, even at the busiest weekends. Portions on the smaller breakfast can leave you wanting more. Worth booking ahead in high season.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
