The dining room is relaxed, clean and roomy enough for a pram, with high chairs on hand and a few tables outside when the weather plays along. Children tend to make straight for the milkshakes and the ice cream, which is made on site; the American-style pancakes with chocolate ice cream and golden syrup are the other reliable winner. Grown-ups do well on gnocchi, cannelloni, cheesy garlic bread and generously filled sandwiches with homemade mayonnaise. Portions are sensible rather than enormous, prices genuinely fair for the quality, and the staff are patient, quick and happy to tweak dishes — vegetarian versions included. Big tables are welcome, though it's worth booking ahead for one. One parent called a cuppa, a scone and ice cream for their daughter "absolutely perfect".
