About Birmingham Blue Nile Restaurant

Ethiopian food in a room that's decorated with real care, and the welcome does a lot of the work here — the owners and staff greet families warmly, explain the dishes if it's your first time, and show you how to eat with injera rather than leaving you guessing. That patience matters with children in tow. Portions are enormous, so two kids can easily share one platter, and food arrives fast — useful when someone's losing it. The Shekla Tibs and kitfo get particular praise, and there's a generous vegan combination platter alongside the kids' menu. Parking nearby is easy and free, high chairs and buggy access are sorted, and the music keeps the volume comfortably low. One family says everyone is "treated like family". Injera's sour tang is an acquired taste — worth warning fussier eaters.
