Counter-service Costa in Southampton with hot drinks, iced coolers and snacks, plus high chairs for little ones.

Tucked in among the West Quay bars, this is a big, plant-filled room with an open ceiling and enough tables that a pram isn't a problem — though weekends fill up fast and walk-ins have been turned away with hour-long waits, so book. Brunch is the draw: the big brunch plate, properly runny eggs, sausages with a good bite, and a garden plate people come back for. Kids get their own menu, high chairs are there, and colouring and puzzles appear to fill the gap while food is cooked to order — handy, because it can take a while when it's packed. Staff are patient and quick to put things right; one family had cold chips swapped for hot ones within minutes. It's lively rather than hushed, and there's outdoor seating if you'd rather escape the noise.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
