Bistro · Swansea
Nine years of anniversaries and birthday candles have passed through this Swansea bistro, and the warmth shows — the team notice things, and one family arrived to find a slice of cake with a lit candle produced on the spot when word got round it was a birthday. Food is cooked fresh to order, which means 30–40 minutes on a busy stretch, so bring something to occupy small hands. Portions are generous enough that leftovers get boxed up, and the kitchen will swap toppings on a pizza or serve any pasta gluten-free. The chicken and bacon linguine and the meatballs draw the most praise. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and vegan options. Early evening is quietest. Worth knowing: water isn't always free, and one or two have found the pasta salty for the price.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
