An independent Italian tucked into the city centre, this one has been a Sheffield favourite for years — families come back over and over, and the atmosphere is genuinely warm rather than stiff. There are high chairs, a kids' menu and buggy access, and the staff are patient and quick to accommodate changes to dishes. The seafood pasta gets particular praise (as much seafood as pasta), the fillet steaks are a long-running favourite at around £25, and the gluten-free range is unusually wide. Bringing your own wine keeps the bill down. Two honest notes: it's cosy to the point of feeling hemmed in if you've got a pram and a lot of coats, and it can get loud on a busy night. Book ahead — tables go, and there's sometimes a two-hour slot.
