Cafés · Durham
Tucked into Durham with free parking outside, this is a small, calm café where families settle in easily — buggy access is fine, high chairs are there, and there's a kids' menu alongside the grown-up food. Service is quick, which matters when someone's patience has run out, and the staff are chatty and warm rather than brisk. Board games on the shelf buy you another twenty minutes. The cake fridge is the real draw: homemade scones get the loudest praise, including an apple crumble one that shouldn't work but does, plus paninis with coleslaw and salad, proper coffee and milkshakes one visitor calls "unreal". Worth knowing it's a genuinely dog-friendly place — there are usually a few dogs in, which delights some children and won't suit others. Prices are reasonable throughout.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
