Tucked at the edge of Shipley Country Park's woodland, this is the kind of stop that works whether you've walked the pushchair through mud or driven over — there are disabled spaces right outside and picnic tables in the garden for warmer days, plus buggy access and high chairs inside. Two cosy redecorated rooms and an open fire make winter visits genuinely lovely. Food is homemade and cheap: the bacon and sausage cobs come up again and again, alongside fantastic sausage rolls, toasties, fruit scones, ice cream in summer and cakes that people come back for. Coffee is properly good, tea arrives in a pot, and there's a kids' menu and vegan options. Staff are warm and helpful — they'll refill your water bottles after a walk. It's small and dog-friendly, so expect a snug squeeze at busy weekends.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
