Tucked inside the Easton Family Centre on Stapleton Road, this community café has done something rare — set aside a whole room and garden for people with babies and small children, plus a little stay-and-play corner for toddlers and proper chairs for breastfeeding. There's genuine space here, so a pram isn't a problem, and the staff are warm without fussing. The menu changes weekly depending on what the chefs (who come from all over the world) can get hold of, so expect four or so dishes rather than a long list — largely veggie and vegan, and prices that sit around £6 for a big plate. The vegan chocolate cake gets its own fan club. There's a pay-it-forward scheme, and you can take frozen portions home. One parent calls it "the most amazing hidden gem".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
