A smart harbour-side spot that only recently stopped being the Holiday Inn restaurant, this one surprises people — the refit gave it a modern, softly lit room with a central bar, and there's genuinely space to park a pram without apologising to anyone. High chairs are there, the doors and floor take a buggy easily, and parking is free, which takes one worry off the drive in. Food comes out quickly and looks the part: garlic prawns people still talk about weeks later, chicken schnitzel, sticky toffee pudding worth ordering even when you're full. There's a kids' menu, vegan options, and outdoor tables for warmer days, and the team handled a gluten-free request without fuss. Breakfast has slipped lately by some accounts, and at ££ it's a treat rather than a habit — but one parent found the whole thing "very memorable".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
