Cafés · Anglesey
Tucked into the maritime village of Moelfre, this is a tea room that has quietly grown into something closer to a restaurant, and it copes well with children. The terrace is spacious and properly built, with sea views and enough room to park a pram beside a booth — though be warned that friendly house sparrows will flutter right up to your table, which small children usually love and some adults don't. Inside, a log burner makes wet Monday lunchtimes bearable. Staff are quick, unflappable and generous: one family arrived to find crayons and a picture produced for their niece unprompted. The ploughman's and the afternoon tea draw the most praise, and the brownies and hot chocolate suit a post-beach walk. Two breakfasts with drinks ran to around £43, so it isn't cheap, and it's worth booking ahead — tables go on reservation even when the room looks half empty.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
