A small bistro in Spinkhill just outside Sheffield, this one works well for family occasions — there's an upstairs area that groups can have to themselves, and loads of free parking right there, which matters when you're unloading a car seat and a pram. Food comes out quickly and all together, piping hot, with portions that are genuinely decent rather than fussy-small; the steak pizza gets particular praise, and there's afternoon tea served past 4pm, which is unusual. The wood burner keeps it properly warm in winter. Staff are warm and unhurried with people. Two honest snags: the menu is small with only one vegan option despite vegan being listed, and it's a compact space, so booking is wise for a group even though walk-ins are fine. One parent found the whole thing "beautifully presented" without being precious about it.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
