Tucked downstairs beneath the Millennium Gallery, this is a bright, airy room with a pastel palette, floral displays and a big window frontage — and, crucially for anyone arriving with a pram, plenty of space between tables. It's genuinely roomy and step-free throughout, with an accessible loo, and there are high chairs plus a decent kids' selection. Breakfast is the strong suit: a proper Full English, textbook eggs Benedict, flaky pastries and a homemade-style sausage roll, with cakes and sandwiches at the counter and coffee that even the grumpiest visitors admit is excellent. One snag worth knowing: it's counter service, not table service, and the kitchen can be slow at busy moments, so order before anyone reaches meltdown. Otherwise the staff let you linger — one parent describes ending up staying "much longer than planned".
