Tucked away in Penzance and not a huge room, so booking is worth it — families arriving on spec at busy times may struggle, and a pram will need somewhere to park. Once you're settled the staff are welcoming and attentive, happy to bring drinks while you decide, and there are high chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options, plus outdoor seating when the weather plays along. Midweek and out of season it's genuinely quiet, which is lovely if your children find a loud room overwhelming. The cod and the seafood risotto get the most praise; olives and houmous to start make good sharing while everyone waits. Prices sit a little above average for Cornwall and portions can run small, and when a big table arrives the kitchen slows — one family found the food "delicious" but the sauce late. Don't come in a rush.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
