Nissi's American Diner
Cosy Mapperley diner with huge portions, famous milkshakes and free parking nearby — small inside, so expect a wait at busy times.

Restaurant · Nottingham
Tucked away in Mapperley, this is the kind of out-of-town spot that rewards the drive — free parking outside, buggy access in, and high chairs and a kids' menu waiting once you're seated. Service moves quickly, which matters with a hungry toddler: water lands on the table straight away, condiments before the mains, no hanging about for the bill. The food is small plates and tapas built for sharing, so children can pick at things — the gnocchi and the Korean chicken with watermelon get named again and again, and the Sunday roast is a proper one, crackling crisp and a jug of gravy. Vegetarian and vegan choices are plentiful. It isn't a cheap night out at roughly £70 for two with drinks, and Sundays need booking ahead.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
