Gluten-free families, take note — nearly everything on the menu here can be made GF, right down to garlic bread that tastes freshly made rather than the usual cardboard, plus lasagne, pasta and desserts, which is rare. Dairy-free is handled well too, and there are proper vegetarian and vegan choices, so nobody's stuck with a sad side salad. The team talk you through options patiently and check allergies carefully. It's roomy and comfortable, with buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, and outdoor tables in decent weather. The artisan pasta, calamari and seafood linguine get particular praise, and the garlic bread and ciabatta starters are generous — one visitor reckoned they were enough for four. Weekday lunchtimes are quiet enough to walk in; weekends and evenings are worth booking. The menu is enormous, which can slow down indecisive children.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
