Cheap, cheerful and genuinely warm with children — one family arrived to find the kids handed activities and sweets, and drinks on the house during an Easter event. Buggy access and high chairs are sorted, there's a kids' menu, and the staff stay patient and quick even when the place is heaving, which it often is. In bigger groups they bring dishes out one after another so nobody sits watching everyone else eat. The Singapore noodles get the loudest praise — properly smoky wok hei — and the katsu chicken is the other thing regulars order without looking at the menu. Tofu dishes are a strength, so vegan eaters are well covered. Portions are generous and prices fair; around £25 covers a drink, starter and main. It gets loud and busy at weekends, and the fried sharing starters will fill children up before mains land.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
