Meydan Restaurant
Flavoursome sharing platters and welcoming staff make Meydan a solid family-friendly choice in E16.
Brunch · Canary Wharf
Tucked inside the English National Ballet building on the Leamouth Peninsula, The Barre is a lovely little find — a relaxed, brunch-leaning café serving artisan food and really good coffee in a calm, unhurried atmosphere. It's buggy-friendly and highchairs are available, and there's outdoor space too, which is handy on a nice day; do note there's no dedicated children's menu or baby-changing facilities on site. Vegan options are on the menu, and with straightforward, well-made food at reasonable prices, it's a genuinely pleasant spot for a family breakfast or lunch off the beaten track.

The secret to a calmer meal out? Something to do that isn't a phone. Each pack is full of screen-free bits and bobs to keep little hands busy at the table and buy you a proper sit-down. Three printable packs, one for each age (toddler, preschool, primary) — free, straight to your inbox.
